From Software Engineering to Online Styling:
Fashier’s Founder Gina Benavides Discovery
Great style can mean getting your dream job, getting that lucky date, or even discovering parts of yourself you never knew you had. The problem is that many people don’t know how impactful fashion styling can be. My name is Gina Benavides, and I am the founder of Fashiers. I did not grow up devouring pages of Vogue nor did I attend fashion schools. I instead am a former software engineer who worked in corporate after my degree. Not ever knowing I could work in fashion. That was until I unlocked the power of great style, and created Fashiers with my technology background.
Discovering the Need For Style in Dublin
Fashion styling isn't just about looking good; it's about feeling confident and expressing your personality. Studies show that dressing well can positively impact your mood and self-esteem, affecting how others perceive you and even your performance in various areas of life. Despite this, many people, including myself, struggle with selecting the best outfits for their body types and occasions. That all changed when I took the chance on myself and moved to Europe.
I moved to Ireland to study English and challenge myself further. When I got to Dublin, I needed a part-time job while studying. I worked at Zara as a sales assistant, which as most of you can guess, European Zara can be very different than North America’s. Working at Zara in downtown Dublin opened my eyes to the challenges many face in styling themselves and others.
Even in a store filled with diverse clothing options, many customers and even I, as a sales assistant, found it challenging to create stylish outfits. This experience highlighted the universal need for accessible styling advice and inspired the creation of Fashiers.
Creating Authentic Style
The best fashion comes from learning the best style practices and bringing in your unique vision. At first, I would avoid bringing up my software engineering background. I felt like it wasn’t relevant or cool. However, now I realize that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Recognizing the gap between the fashion industry and everyday individuals, I envisioned a global platform and app that could provide personalized style guidance to anyone, at any time. While celebrities have stylists to curate their looks, many people do not have access to these experts. Fashiers aims to offer similar services in a more affordable and accessible way. The app combines my love for fashion with my software engineering skills. I created a platform where anyone can access styling tips and trends, and connect with a world of style lovers.

By leveraging the power of algorithms and user data, Fashiers provides tailored recommendations that cater to individual preferences and body types. We are also developing premium AI technology to further personalize and enhance the Fashier’s experience for our users. The Fashiers AI will give our members access to an intelligent stylist in their pocket with technology.

Since starting Fashiers, I have grown my personal style exponentially. I have explored new ways to wear certain items, prolong their wear, and met with countless inspiring people from around the globe. I never thought I would be able to work in the world of fashion when I was working as a software engineer, but now technology and style are giving me the world.
Embracing my style has been transformative. I no longer feel out of place or underdressed, but rather empowered and beautiful in any situation. This shift in mindset reflects the profound impact that personal style can have on one's confidence and self-image.
